Cfr. ill. the german surveyor c. niebuhr (1733-1815) travelled extensively in egypt, arabia, Persia, Palestine and asia Minor. His works have long been classics on the geography, the people, the antiquities and the archaeology of much of the district of arabia which he traversed.
