Century binding: glazed pink calf, gilt supra libros set by a blind roll-stamp with palm leaf designs and a
gilt fillet, ribbed spine set by gilt fillets decorated with central gilt fleurons (mask, trumpet…) and with green
leather labels, sprinkled edges (spines slightly darker, wormholes on the spine of vol. II, some scratches or parts
slightly rubbed, copy slighy trimmed).

Second edition (1

ed. : 1797-1798) given by the biographer and bibliographer Pellicer
(1738-1806), the ninth volume being the biography of Cervantes. Illustrated with an
allegorical frontispiece by Juan Moreno de Tejada after Luis Paret y Alcázar, Cervantes
portrait in a medallion by Tejada, 3 folding maps among which one figuring Don Quichotte's
journey with borders heightened. Text in a neat typography decorated with 32 historiated
head-pieces by Luis Paret y Alcázar and Francisco Alcántara, engraved by Juan Moreno
Tejada and Blas Ametller. The pages showing a head-piece contain the number of the page
to which the illustration is referring. With Cervantes signature reproduced in volumes I and
V.

veau glacé rose du 19e s. (rousseurs, qqs pp. lég. brunies, dos lég. plus foncés). Avec 2 autres ouvrages
de Cervantès joints.
