First edition of the translation
by the German humanistic poet Hartmann Schopper
(1542-after 1595), illustrated with 46 (of 52) little woodcuts throughout the text engraved by
Jost Amman (mostly monogrammed) from Virgil Solis' designs. Based on "Reinke de Vos",
the famous late Middle Low German poem which first appeared at Lübeck in 1498, which
was itself based on the enlarged version by Van Alchmer (Antwerp, 1487) going back to the
old Flemish poem of the 13

Century.
