and the Syrian monk John Climacus or John Sinaites (from the 5

both considered as Saint by the Catholic and the Orthodox Churches. Translated or with
the commentaries by Denis the Cartusian (1402-1471), famous Belgian theologian and
mystic called the «Doctor extaticus». Contains : (1) Cassian : «De Institutis coenobiorum
et de octo principalium vitiorum remediis» on the monastic life and obstacles a monk has

the perfection in 30 «gradus». The second part of the volum contains the commentaries of
Denis the Cartusian on the famous treaty of Climacus.

books on Orthodox Faith (with 2 in texto schematizing the Orthodox thought), with parallel
text (Greek and Latin) given by Jacobo Fabro and the commentaries of the monk John
Cassian (360/365-433/435). The works of Cassian, who is considered as a Saint by the
Orthodox and Catholic Churches, follow those of Damascenus. Copy illustrated with some
