hierarchy») and letters by Denis the Cartusian or the «Doctor extaticus», also known as
van Rijckel or van Leeuwen (1402-1471), famous theologian and mystic from Limburg
(Belgium). Followed by letters from Ignatius of Antioch, Polycarp of Smyrna and saint
Anthony. The second part of the volume consists of different versions of the works of the
Pseudo-Dionysius (by John Scottus Eriugenia, John Sarracenus,Ambrosius the Camaldules
and Godefroy Tilman) and at the end the «Apologia ostenden beatum dionysium», the

controversies defending Augustine’s doctrine. As he was a disciple of the Church Father
(354-430), the majority of his works relay his thoughts : his main operum «Contra Cassiani
[...], de gratia Dei & libero arbitrio» on the necessity of Grace (God wishes all men to be
saved) is a reply to the «Collationes patrum in Scithico eremo commorantium» of the French
monk Cassian (360/365-433/435),- letters to saint Augustine on the same subject,- maxims
(«Sententiarum ex operibus D. Augustini [...] ») and epigrams («Ex ijsdem sententijs
Epigrammaton [...] ») to be a guide for Christians, etc.
