"Martyres", "Confessonnes et virgines" (hardly visible). One saint with a banner "Ecce Agnus Dei Ecce qui
tollit peccata mundi", some saints pictured with the instruments of their martyrdom (cross, saw, grill...).

strips. Cloth spine. Cloth clasps on a metal pin fastening at the fore-edge side of the front cover. Cloth
"endpapers"' on velvet borders.
The large partly silver ornaments
consist of an oval central ornament (front
: Crucifixion, back : Last Judgement?), and 4 corner pcs (front : 4 Evangelists, back : 4 shells). Loosely
added : large tassel marker on a wooden stick (Dutch:"kapittelstok").

plate presents an elaborate calligraphic title and 2 circular medallions representing charming small
typically Dutch scenes or landscapes in Oudekerk and Sloten (De lente), the "Plantage" en the "Overtoom"
in Amsterdam (De Zomer), etc. : walking in spring or winter landscapes, boat riding, skating on a frozen
river, receipt of wine barrels in autumn... "De winter" engr. by Meyling (1757-1801), the other pl. engr. by B.
De Bakker (fl. 1752-1805).
