avant la lettre

Godtvrughtighe almanach, of Lof-gedachtenis der heyligen, op ijder dag van 't
jaar. Gevolgt na den beruchten Sebastian Le Clerc (...). Amsterdam, Jan Goeree, 1730, 4to, cont.
calf (rubbed, corners bumped), gilt spine on 5 raised bands (def. at head & tail, some repairs),
slipcase, 3 engr. titles, 367 circular engr. plates, 7,4 x 7,4 cm (wormtrack and -holes in lower
margins of first ff., minor spotting). Good well-preserved copy.

Saint's portraits
(for each day of the year) by the Dutch engraver and publisher J. Goeree
(1670-1731), after the French ed. by Gautrel (Paris 1689) with plates by Le Clerc, Lepautre and Dolivar.
