Touristical guide exploring the most famous cities, monuments and temples accompanied

with historical descriptions : Alexandria, Museum of Egyptian Antiquities of Cairo, Pyramids

of Saqqara, Faiyum and Lake Moeris, Luxor, Karnak, Abu Simbel, Karthoum, etc. Preceded

by an introduction on the history, hieroglyphs, religion, architecture, etc. and with an

interesting English-Arabic vocabulary. Budge (1857-1934) made numerous trips to Egypt

ans Sudan to buy antiquities for the British Museum.

of this journey made by Budge (1857-1934) into Sudan. Profusely illustrated

with vignettes, full-pages and plates, some folding, protected by tissue guards figuring

the Pyramid of Murtek, plans (cataract of Semna and Kumma, Temple at Gebel Barkal,

pyramids of El-Kurru...), Nile at Kassingar, Aswan in 1904, British cemetery on the Atbara

in 1898, Mosque at Khartoum, altar with Meroitic inscriptions, etc. Budge made numerous

trips to Egypt and Sudan to buy antiquities for the British Museum.
