Very rare
first German ed. published simultaneously with the French ed. It is the last opera Rossini
wrote although he lived for nearly forty more years. It was first performed in Paris in 1829. The
lenght and high requirements have led to the difficulty in producing the work. When performed, the
opera is often cut. Due to its revolutionary content productions were also limited. Libretto in 2 cols
French and German.

Lettre au Président du Tribunal de Premier Instance concernant l’affaire de la liquidation de
l’ancienne Liste Civile, plaidée par M. Dupin. L’affaire a été remise à huitaine, mais il demande
quand même au président “de la retenir demain de manière à ce qu’elle puisse être plaidée”.
Sous le règne de Charles X, Rossini avait contracté un engagement dont il ne pensait pas que la
Révolution de 1830 pourrait le briser. Il réclame son droit et gagne l’affaire.
