DE FAIRE SIGNER DES AUTOGRAPHES À SON PÈRE
Le Gouverneur Carroll félicite G.W. et Lafayette pour leur voyage : “the fatigues of you journeying
through the United States are now nearly at a close” ; il demande des autographes “as a number
of ladies of this place (...) are extremely anxious to posses themselves of his signature”
William Carroll (1788-1844) served as Governor of Tennessee twice (1821-1827) and
(1829-1835). He held the office longer than any other person and is considered one
of the state’s most popular political figures of the 1820s. He is credited with initiating
numerous legal and tax reforms.

so distinguished a guest” ; on lui annonce qu’il deviendra membre de la loge.
