(1506 and 1508, 8°; 1516, 32°), Petit (1510, 4°) or by both (1512, 8°) and by Kaerbriand
(1519, 1521 and 1535, 8°) but none with the address, date and format of our copy.

Edition by Petrus Busaeus of this very popular catechism written in the form of question
and answer, published in 1555 under the title "Summa doctrinae christianae", translated in
more than 26 languages and edited countless times since. Saint Petrus Canisius born Peter
Kanis (1521–1597) was one of the most important Jesuits and influential Catholics of his
time to whom the restoration of Catholicism in Germany after the Reformation is attributed.

of 39 representations of personages of the Old Testament by Jan Sadeler after Crispijn van
den Broeck and Pieter van den Borcht (1

issue : 1575). Illustrated also with the author's
portrait, German humanist and mayor of Adernach (1514-1575). Some successive mistakes
were made during the printing of the edition. The presses were stopped to correct them but
several erroneous copies were already distributed.
