Rather impressive scene: “A butcher, standing removing the intestines of a pig that hangs suspended

from the ceiling of his shop. He grips a knife between his teeth and wears a hat with a lit candle

attached. In the background, another man holding a knife works on a carcass (...)” (Royal Collection

Trust). Thomas Rowlandson (1756–1827) was an English artist and caricaturist.

Eris produced the apple of discord, which started the quarrel that led to the Judgement of Paris and
