First ed. of these important medieval chronicles of the Northern Netherlands by the Utrecht polyhistor

A. Buchelius (1565-1641). The chronicle by Beka covers the early history of the Netherlands till 1393,

with its appendices running till 1456 and is followed by a preface by B. Furmerius (printer of the

Franeker ed. of 1612) and by appendices by S. Petri (editor of the 1612-text). The chronicle by Heda

treats the history of the Utrecht bishops, preceded by a “Vita” of the author by L. van Waveren and

followed by the “Continuatio” of S. Petri. The chronicle of L. Hortensius (1501-1574) covers the

history of Utrecht from 1524 till 1528. Adorned with laudatory poems by i.a. Prof. Ant. Aemilius, Anna

Maria van Schuurman, Adolf Vorstius, Caspar Barlaeus and Nic. Hamel. Ownership entries on flyleaf

i.a. “Daniel Clasen, 1.5.1666”, (1622-1678), a German political theorist and classicist. Libr. stamp.
