This narrow folio format was easy to be kept in the pocket and having with all the time. Woodcut

Spanish arms on title.

Rare broadsheet of the Battle of Breitenfeld (Leipzig) on 17 September 1631, being the Protestants’

1st major victory in the 30 Years’ War. It contains a satirical German poem in 2 cols ill. with an

engraving, c. 14,5 x 24,5 cm. “Das Kupfer zeigt Breitenfeld, das Schlachtfeld vor Leipzig, mit den

Truppen von Tylli, im Vordergrund befindet sich eine gedeckte Tafel, an der sich Verletzte im Beisein

von Gustav Adolph und dem sächsichen Kurfürsten versammeln. Unterhalb der Darstellung ein

kommentierendes Gedicht, im unt. Rand ein “Küchen unnd Taffelzettel So General Tylli Abends vor

der Schlacht von Leipzig begehret” (Ketterer 2007).
