Tory (1480-1533), French humanist, printer and engraver, best known for adding accents

on French letters and for writing the "Champfleury" published in 1529 on the use of French

language. Text decorated with large dotted initials and with pages or some parts in Greek.

¶ Compilation des principales oeuvres du diplomate de Baïf portant sur l'architecture navale, l'art de se

vêtir et sur les vases. Chaque partie est ornée respectivement de 21, 3 et 7 in texto par Geoffroy Tory.

La dernière partie, non illustrée et attribuée à Antonio Telesio, est la première monographie sur les

couleurs. Relié en plein maroquin rouge par H. Wood (ex. lég. bruni, bonne condition).

Rare first edition

of this collection of ordinances and statutes of the diocese of Liège

announced by the Prince-Bishop Ernest of Bavaria (1554-1612), elected in 1581. Includes

regulations on excommunication, imprisoning, oathing by lawyers, admission charges

for notaries, etc. Illustrated by the coat-of-arms of Bavaria on the title. Interleaved copy

containing contemporary handwritten annotations.

First edition

(a French edition was published the same year) of this important chorographic

essay by Guicciardini (1521-1589), a Florentine merchant who lived in Antwerp. The title,

coat-of-arms and portrait of Philipp II are contained in a wood-engraved portico decorated

with six allegories. Illustrated with 17 double plates : a copper-engraved general map of
