extended flowery decoration around the compass rose; with a short commentary in Dutch. Framed

(without glass). Paper age-toned, some thumbing otherwise good condition.

Beautiful rare plate. “La fresque du Primatice pour la Galerie d’Ulysse au château de

Fontainebleau fut détruite en 1738-1739, mais le dessin préparatoire est conservé au Cabinet des

Arts graphiques du Louvre” (Valenciennes Libr.).

1st state

: publ. by J. Cock, diam. 42 cm (trimmed

to the borderline); engr. inscription “Tomaso Vincidor de Bolonia inve H. Cock [e]xcude”, caption

lacking. Underlaid, some expertly repaired tears. Very good impression.

2nd state

: diam. 45 cm

(trimmed to the platemark); engr. inscription “Tomaso Vincidor de Bolonia inve Corn. Court fecit”

and Latin caption “Panditur interea domus omnipotentis Olympi conciliumque (...)”. Sl. rubbed

and stained, folds and old traces on verso, a few marg. tears.
