Extr. rare (5th recorded copy) 1st publication of the Italian Neolatin poet and Augustinian monk

Giacomo Lavezzoli Lebeti (1510-1585). It is a verse panegyric on Ercole II d’Este, Duke of Ferrara

(1508-1559), married to Renée of France. Woodcut ornament on title. Large woodcut mark at the

end. On title an

anonymous 4-line Latin poem in cont. handwriting

“In Lauezoliu(m) Incerti

auctoris”.

Very rare 1st larger collection of the poetry of “the French Horace” Jean Salmon Macrin (1490-

1557), in his time considered to be the finest Neolatin poet of France. Earlier (in 1528) only a small

part (16) ff.) of his poems had been published by S. de Colines. Woodcut mark on title. In italics.

Capital spaces with guide-letters.
