Very interesting survey by a well-informed person on the government (structures and functions)
and legislation of the Southern Netherlands, including the ecclesiastical structures. Chap. 12 of the
last part is titled “De l’Université de Louvain” (11 pp.). On one f. there is a reference to “l’année
courante 1730”.

37 x 26 cm, old thoroughly repaired blindruled embossed calf over wood (rebacked), remains of
orig. blindstamped covers with lozenge-shaped blindstamped roll expertly pasted on, spine on 4
raised bands, metal central and corner pcs (4 on front cover, 2 fore-edge corner pcs only on lower
cover), metal clasps and catches on leather tongues (1 clasp gone), cloth markers, 199 ff. (incl. final
blank; some minor traces of use, last ff. soiled and wormed), 4-line staves with neumes, gothic
textura in black and red ink. In good condition.

Well-written ms. of a collection of liturgical prayers (Inc. “Summe sacerdos et vere pontifex”), often
ascribed to St Ambrose or St Augustine, but now attributed to the Italian-Norman Benedictine John
of Fécamp (d. 1079). It is here followed by “Oratio (...) ad honorem quinque plagarum christi”
(prayers 4-5 lacking). Titles rubricated; penwork initials in red, green and brown.

circular (IHS) and square (lion) stamps, and small circles with clovers (?), spine on 3 raised bands,

written in black/brown and red ink, 22 ll. within ruled writing area.
