Récit de son voyage officiel en Espagne, Eva
Peron ayant été reçue par le général Franco.
Arrivée le 7 juin à Palmas, escortée par
un régiment maure et reçue par le général
Escamès, après une messe à la cathédrale
et un déjeuner à l’Albergue de Gando. Puis
accueil du général Franco avec sa femme
à Madrid, avec une série d’événements
(réception au Palais du Prado, soirée de gala,
remise de l’Ordre d’Isabelle la Catholique,
allocution radio, visite d’un campement de
la jeunesse espagnole à l’Escorial, et visites
de plusieurs villes, avec spectacle d’une
corrida etc.)
On Saturday June 7th we arrived
at the airport of Villa Cisneros. We were escorted
by the Moorish regiment of the army. On the
following day we arrived in Palmas, Grand Canary
Island. We attended mass at the Cathedral and
had lunch at the Albergue de Gando. General
Escamés gave us presents that were typical
of the Island and Madrid. When we landed,
General Franco and his wife were waiting for us.
There were not many people at the airport. We
headed towards the Palacio del Pardo, General
Franco’s residence. «On Monday the official
reception was held, and the General conferred
on us the great Cross of Isabel the Catholic.
Speeches on the balconies. Gala banquet with
the performance of Carmen Sevilla and Lola
Flores. (…) On Wednesday we visited several
cities, Molino del Campo, Avila and Segovia.
We were given a collection of Spanish books of
remarkable beauty. Then we went to a bullfight,
which I enjoyed a lot, and to a gala offered by
the City Hall of the City of Madrid. «On Friday
13th we headed towards the city of Toledo, where
General Moscaria gave an account of his defense
during the war. Later I met the Episcopal Primate.
On Saturday we visited the University Campus,
Prado Museum and National Institute of Social
Security. I was able to address a few words to
the workers about Peron’s accomplishments in
Argentina and the benefits bestowed by the law
to the workers in our country. Trip to Spanish
provinces (…).
Avant son départ, Eva Peron fut
reçu à Barcelone le 24 juin, où il y eu cette fois
ci beaucoup de monde; elle indique cependant
que son discours d’adieu n’a pas plu au général
Franco…

we were welcomed in Barcelona by the General
and his wife. This time a lot of people were at
the square. At 2 p.m. we were received at City
Hall and officially bade goodbye. I delivered the
message to General Franco. I think he did not
like it very much. The departure was wonderful
and so were the Spanish people
