LAFAYETTE’S COPY “the burrough of Wilmington and may the Brandywine, after having been a bloddy dispute between the soldiers of liberty and the satellites of oppression" (...) “Although the heat continued excessive, he undertook, on the 25th, his journey to Wilmington, where a great number of Pennsylvanians and Virginians were in waiting to conduct him to the field of the battle of Brandywine.
