Description
brown., marg. dampstain to pl. 1 & 2, some traces of use. 
Rare complete set, also publ. in "Histoire de Joseph, accompagnée de dix figures (...) gravées sur les modèles du fameux Reimbrandt par Monsieur le Comte de Caylus", Amsterdam, Neaulme, 1757. After drawings formerly attributed to Rembrand, now considered possibly as the work of his most gifted pupil, Gebrand Van Eeckhout. The Comte de Caylus (1692-1765) was a French antiquarian, proto-archaeologist and man of letters; he also was an art collector and a talented engraver and etcher.
