Description
Rather impressive scene : "A butcher, standing removing the intestines of a pig that hangs suspended from the ceiling of his shop. He grips a knife between his teeth and wears a hat with a lit candle attached. In the background, another man holding a knife works on a carcass (...)" (Royal Collection Trust). Thomas Rowlandson (1756–1827) was an English artist and caricaturist.
