Carefully executed small drawings representing views, landscapes, houses, puppets... by the Dutch still life and landscape painter Maria Vos (1824-1906). Nice perpetual calendar and commonplace book, with months and dates calligraphed in gold and coloured ink and each leaf set in border of red ink. On left pp., common sense or literary quotations in French (G. Sand, Boileau, Pascal...), English (Shakespeare, G. Eliot, Byron...), German (Goethe, Schiller...), Dutch (Multatuli, Vondel...) or Italian; on right pp., some short contemp. or later obituary notes, relating to members of the van Bosse family; the death of Maria Vos is for example mentionned on January 11th. Also contains some later Dutch notes (c. 1957), i.a. concerning the provenance of the ms. : it was made by Anna Weber van Bosse for (her sister ?) M.L. van Bosse.
