Description
Manuscript of the orchestral work "Prologue" (1944) by H. Rabaud (1873-1949), French conductor and composer who had merely conservative ideas about composing. From 1922-1941 he directed the Conservatoire de Paris. During the German Occupation Rabaud wrote to the Nazi's on his own initiative. He gave them all the names of the Jewish teachers and students being afraid that the number of Jews working in the Conservatory would lead to its closure. As a result of his action more than half of them were forced to leave. Manuscript in ink, signed and dated at the end.
