1. Attractive oval woodcut map showing the "modern" world in the later issues of Münster's "Cosmographia". Title in gothic. Corners decorated by a florid vine leaf patern. 2. Fair example of Munster's second ancient map of the World, based upon the writings of Ptolemy. The traditional classical world is surrounded by clouds and 12 wind-heads (their Latin names in banners). The continents have unexpected shapes and are all connected by a great southern continent, "Terra incognito secundum Ptolemaeum". Sharp & clean copies without a heavy shining through of verso as usual.
