Description
Two sets : 1. 2 larger, c. 7 x 4 cm, top rounded and 15 smaller, square, c. 2,2 x 2,2 cm, miniatures, touched with gold, cut from a French manuscript [Northern France? Low Countries?; late 15th c.?], probably a Book of Hours. The larger miniatures show the Circumcision of Jesus and a Nativity scene (shepherds near a fire looking at a comet), the small square ones represent saints, mostly in blue or yellow, i.a. Sebastian, Christopher, Andrew, Barbara, Stephan, George, Gregory, Peter. 2. Six letters from a gothic alphabet [Low Countries?, c. 1500?], on paper, c. 4,5 x 3,5 or 4 x 3 cm, cut from a liturgical manuscript. Written in brown ink, with a blue or pale green background; 4 initials with expressive, somewhat grotesque, faces.
