Description
anima.
Voluminous and very interesting course of Aristotelian physics and metaphysics taught by the Benedictine monks Columbanus Parent and Antonius Chassé in the novitiate school of Saint-Amand Abbey (formerly Elnon Abbey), also known as St.-Amand-en-Pévèle (“in pabula”). Illustrated with 6 full-page engr. portraits, a folding engr. (on the death of Nicolas de Serin), 2 astronomical engr. (1 folding), 1 anatomical engr. (human eye) and 2 astronomical pen drawings. Portraits of the Capuchin Thomas Teneramundanus (Dendermonde) by Adr. Possemiers, of Carolus Casparus, Archbishop of Trier by F. Bouttats, of Dominicus Ottomanus, a son of the Turkish Emperor, converted in 1652, of Wolfgang of Bavaria, Christina of Sweden, and of Oliver Cromwel. Well worth comparing with the course manuscripts of Louvain University.
