1st ed. of this beautiful fête book illustrating the Inauguration in Ghent of Charles VI (1685-1740), Holy Roman Emperor, as Count of Flanders in 1717. Splendid engraved illustr. (complete) : allegorical frontisp. by Heylbrouck after J.B. van Volxsom and 6 large to very large folding pl. by or after the same, J. Harrewijn, Berterham and Eykens. Picturing 4 pyramids erected "au marché au vendredy", night-illuminations and fireworks in the city, a triumphal arch, the solemn ceremony at St Bavo Cathedral (sl. stained) and a very large representation of the ceremony on a theater "dressé sur la Place au Vendredy (...) le 18. octobre 1717" (designed by Jacob Colin, drawn by C. Eykens and engr. by Berterham). Title in red and black with wood engr. arms. Contemp. ms. note relating to Jean Nicolas de Saive, "l'un des Adjudans Generaux de la Cour" on p. 19.
