in-12, [10]-125-[1] p., plein veau brun moucheté du 19e s., dos lisse, plats encadrés d'un double filet doré (reliure usée, manques au dos, déchir. aux mors intérieurs, découpure au titre restauré). Ex-libris imprimés de Viollet Le Duc et de Olivier de Gourcuff, ex-libris manuscrit de Robert Guiette. First edition of this collection of these poetical satires which lampoon slanderer's, frivolous women, war, financiers, Basques, libertine clerics, hairstyles, etc. The author, Louis Petit (1615-1693), wrote the dedicatory epistle to the Duke of Montausier. On the last page is a 6 year royal privilege granted to Richard Lallemant dated 6 June 1685. The colophon notes that this is the first appearance of this text on December 8, 1685. Included : « Le nouveau Juvénal satyrique, pour la réformation des moeurs et des abus de notre siècle ». A few copies have a separate errata leaf added at end which, because of the low number of it being present, was probably a late addition (Brunet, IV, 529 : « Peu commun » ; Cioranescu, 54571 ; Gay-Lemmonier, IV, 356-57).
