Description
Antique typewriter and intriguing machine invented by Sterling Elliott which could address a stack of letters for mailing. "Metal stencils, with the addresses cut out, were loaded into the hamper. As one turned the handle, the addressed stencil cards would be pushed one-by-one through the ink rollers with an envelope to make the imprint" (antiquetypewriters.com). This machine is very heavy but the weight was needed to stop the machine from vibrating off the table when in use. Label "N.V. Kantoormeubelen en Drukkerij v/h Blikman & Sartorius, Amsterdam".
