Images of events probably in Ghent and surroundings : a parade (of civil services) with horses and dogs and a fire brigade at work, processions and feasts in the streets of Ghent showing dressed up participants (school children, sport clubs, etc.), a flower parade on the water and the road with decorated boats and vehicles (parade of the floats, cars and (in some cases) boats are magnificently decorated or covered in flowers), a military parade on the St Pieter's Square (Ghent). Images of the Garde Civique while exercising (a Belgian paramilitary militia created in 1830 shortly after the Belgian Revolution. It acted as a quasi-military "gendarmerie", with the primary role of maintaining social order within Belgium, until its disestablishment in 1920." - Wikipedia).
