Description
3 vol., large folio, mod. shagreen (some sm. rubbings), spines on 6 raised bands, [36]-394-[9], [2]-470-[13] pp. (some minor spotting and browning, title pages somewhat soiled, some wormholes in the 1st part, one pl. in part 3 underlaid). Good copy. Second, more complete edition (1st 1641-1644) of the most important topographical work on Flanders by Sanderus (1586-1664). Engr. ills by J. Harrewyn en Blokhuysen : 3 title-vign. by D. Coster, coat-of-arms of H.J. van Susteren, initial, 90 portraits (64, 26), 17 maps (3, 4, 10), 20 city-plans and 135 plates depicting towns and villages, abbeys and castles in Flanders. Among the engraved town views are those of Ghent, Nieuwpoort, Bruges and Ypres. Titles in red & black.
