Description
8vo, old sheep over boards (rubbed, worn at edges), spine on 4 raised bands, [8]-368-[24] ff. (minor marg. staining, title soiled, title edges frayed, tear in the blank part). Good copy. Very rare early Antwerp edition of Erasmus' collection of classical quotations. The letter on courtly life was taken from his treatise on letter-writing "De conscribendis epistolis". Woodcuts : medaillon portrait of Erasmus on verso of title and printer's mark at end. Old ownership entry on title-page "sum Petri Colen".
