Description
8vo, mod. boards covered with an incunable leaf, old red speckeled edges, [56] ff. (single unobtrusive wormhole in 1st quires and last lvs). Very good copy. First edition of Erasmus' plea for Church unity, dedicated to Julius Pflug of Eytra (1499-1564). He was the last Catholic bishop of Naumburg and shared Erasmus' concern of irenicism. Added in a short Precatio pro pace ecclesiae, dedicated to the Cologne professor of law Johann Rinck (d. 1566). Woodcut mark on G8v (B.B. s.v. no. 2).
