Description
8vo, old boards (rubbed, sl. loosening), [24]-527-[1] pp. (cut short occ. shaving headlines, paper age-toned, marg. dampstaining, a few stains). Good copy.                                                                      Rare enlarged ed. (1st 1538) of the Latin poetry of the German diplomat and Königsberg professor Georg Sabinus (1508-1560), son-in-law of Melanchthon. The collection includes his elegies, the “Caesares Germanici”, eclogues and epigrams, as well as some Greek verses. With an additional collection of a treatise on poetry and humanist letters by or to P. Bembo, Ph. Melanchthon and Erasmus (pp. 437-440: Allen 2964 and 2970). Woodcut mark on title. In italics.
