Description
4to, mod. boards (spine def.), [12] ff. (1st and last p. soiled, wormtrack in blank bottom margin). Good wide-margined copy. Extr. rare (5th recorded copy) 1st publication of the Italian Neolatin poet and Augustinian monk Giacomo Lavezzoli Lebeti (1510-1585). It is a verse panegyric on Ercole II d’Este, Duke of Ferrara (1508-1559), married to Renée of France. Woodcut ornament on title. Large woodcut mark at the end. On title an anonymous 4-line Latin poem in cont. handwriting “In Lauezoliu(m) Incerti auctoris”. Ref. Edit16 71397 (3). BnF (1). Not in Adams, Oberlé, STCItalian (BL).
