Cnobbaert, 1639 [28]-249-[27] pp. [bound with] BURGUNDIA, Antonius a - Des wereldts proef-steen ofte De Ydelheydt door de Waerheyd beschuldight ende overtuyght van valscheydt [trsl. from the Latin] Petrus Geschier. Ibid., 1643, [26]-368-[2] pp. (lacking ff. + 2-4 of dedication, but with an extra f. “Drvc-favten” not mentioned in STCV and Landwehr; cut short at top shaving title borders and some headlines), 4to, cont. mottled calf (rubbed), richly gilt spine on 5 raised bands, red edges. Good copy. Orig. Latin ed. of one of the most important Flemish emblem books, dealing with Vanity and Truth. Engr. ills : title by Theod. van Merlen after Abraham van Diepenbeeck and 50 splendid oval emblems by Andries Pauwels after Van Diepenbeeck, with many realistic scenes from daily life.
