4to, cont. blinddecorated English calf (front cover loose), gilt spine on 5 raised bands, red sp. edges, [40]-511-[7]-143-[1] pp. (extra copy of f. A2 bound before p. 1 of last part; paper age-toned, some minor spotting). Good copy. Very rare Geneva ed. (1st 1685) of the Latin trsl. of “Recherche de la vérité” (1685) by the French Cartesian philosopher and Oratorian priest Malebranche (1638-1715). Woodcut ornament on title. Libr. ticket and (blind) stamp.
