8vo, mod. half vellum (soiled), flat spine with blindst. title, marbl. endpapers, red silk marker, [2]-iv-171-[1] pp. (title soiled, dampstain in top inner margin of 1st ff.). Good copy. Rare orig. ed. of the French trsl. by Baron d’Holbach (1723-1789) of “Human nature” (1650) by the English rationalist philosopher Hobbes (1588-1679). Holbach’s trsl. is also a statement of the radical Enlightenment.
