Description
London, Baldwin and Cradock, by G. Woodfall, (G. Norman printer), [ 1837 (?)]. In-f° : ix-[1 bl.]-42 pp., 116 plates (foxing). Contemporary binding : three-quarter red marocco, ribbed spine with gilt floral decoration, gilt edges (rubbed). Probably one of the first editions of this compilation taken from the original plates restored by James Heath and complete with 156 engravings on 116 plates (in accordance with the table of contents) and a biographical essay and explanations of the subjects of the plates by John Nichols. 2 engravings on loose leaf are joint.
