Description
Paris, imp. Auguste Bry, [ 1850-1859 ?]. Coloured lithograph, 41 x 64 cm + margins (margins used). Birds-eye view of New-Orleans by the lithographer L.-A. Asselineau inspired by the Swiss-born artist J. Bachmann. Bachmann's American views were the first major birds-eye views drawn from an imagined perspective, therefore they were directly copied by other lithographers. Rare state not listed by Reps : with English title (first state), with number 49 at the upper right and without name of the publishers Wild and Caleppi (second state).
