Description
(Argentine [ Strasbourg], per industriu[m] Martinum Flach inibi incolam impensis et sumptibus providi Joannis Knoblouch, 1511. Secunda feria post viti et modesti). In-8° : lxxix-[1] lvs (incomplete of the 4 preliminary lvs, dampstains, some extended on all the lvs, other lvs slightly browned, marginal tears reinforced, some stains). 17th century binding : mottled calf, boards encircled with a blind fillet, ribbed spine with gilt fillets, red sprinkled edges (lightly rubbed, wormholes repaired and stains on the lower board, lower corners dulled). Pedagogical work (1st ed. : 1500) by Wimpfeling (1450-1528), Alsacian humanist and theologian, intended to educate morally the young people at a time where the Church crisis lead to a bad education. Supported by texts or quotes of a.o. Ciceron, Platon, Eusebius, Lactantius, Petrarca and Aenas Silvius (i.e. Pius II) and followed by 20 laws to be well-established in morals.
