Description
albumen print process photograph, c. 1860, 19 x 16 cm, mounted on board, 23 x 21,5 cm, titled in ink on the board. Photography ascribed to C.F. Mylius (1827-1916). He specialized in architectural and landscape photography. His images document the change and growth process Frankfurt went through during this time. Motif in his work, and thus time-atypical, were, with few exceptions not the acclaimed new buildings of this era, but mainly the old city preserved in its medieval state. countless recordings are of inestimable historical value, as they often represent the only photographic evidence before remodeling or destruction of entire neighbourhoods.
