x 54,7 cm, orig. col., city map of Moscow not col. (trimmed close to plate border, lower edge remargined, tiny marg. tear). Very good copy. Rare 2nd state (1st: proof dated 1613) of Hessel Gerritsz’significant map of Russia, compiled from manuscripts brought back by isaac Massa, dedicated to czar Michael Foedrowitz. With detailed inset plan of Moscow, 14,5 x 20 cm, attributed to the Crown Prince Fydor Borissowitz (Gudonov) with key to monuments. nice large title cartouche, sailing ships, a compass rose, three russian gentlemen, and a view of Archangel Sckagoroda, 8 x 12 cm. The map covers the European part of the russian empire extending from Poland to the steppes of tartary, and from the Mourmanskoy More (Barents sea) to the Black and caspian seas. Ref.
