epitomy of another peice [sic] of his Lord ship's works intitled Novum Organum (being translated for the clearer understanding of this his Natural History) never before published in English. London, printed by S.G. and B. Griffin for Thomas Lee [- printed for Thomas Lee], 1676. In-f° : [14]-227-[1]-[2 bl.]-[4]-32 pp. (title-page and Bacon's portrait lacking, slightly browned, small marginal holes or wormholes in the beginning, some stains or marginal dampstains, small foxing, some holes and tears without lacks of text). Copy in its original cased boards without binding (original leather, pastedowns, spine, headbands and turn ins lacking, traces of leather on the corners, edges and corners dulled, notice of catalogue stuck on the upper flyleaf). Reprint (1s, posthumous ed. : 1626) given by william Rawiey, Bacon’s personnai secretary, of this natural history "intendeth [...] as may be Fundamental to the Erecting and Building of a true Philosophy" (cfr To the Reader). It is a compilation of experiments in physics, anatomy, botany, medicine... made during the Antiquity until the tenth Century with Bacon's observations. Deals with : "Of Meats and Drinks most Nourishing", "Of Congealing of Aire", "Of Sneezing", "Of Sympathy and Antipathy of Plants", "Of the Meliorations of Tobacco", etc. Followed by the work on the Atlantis,- the "History natural and experimental of life & death or Of the prolongation of life",- "Articles of Enquiry, touching metals & minerals",- and an epitomy of the first book of the "Novum Organum" (1„ed. : 1620), famous philosophical work of Bacon, containing aphorisms on the interpretation of the Nature and the Kingdom of man. # Pritzel 317 (ed of 1627); # not in Nissen, Dorbon, Caillet (other ed.), Brunet (id.). (cuir, tranchefiles, coiffes et contreplats absents, traces de cuir aux angles, titre et portrait de Bacon manquants, gal. ou trous de vers marg. passim...).
