Il n'y a point sur le fief d'Ectot, d'habitation qui répondit à l'Etat de la terre, & à celui du Propriétaire; le sieur d'HOUDETOT a fait construire un Château sur la Ferme qu'il faisait valoir; ce Château et les douves qui l'environnent, occupent un terrain considérable, & pour les perfectionner, il fait indispensablement que ce soit aux dépens d'une partie des bâtiments de cette Ferme...»

There is no dwelling on the fiefdom of Ectot, a dwelling which was in accordance with the state of the land, & that of the Owner; Sieur d'HOUDETOT had a Castle built on the Farm which he claimed; this Castle and the moat which surrounds it, occupy a considerable amount of land, & in order to improve it, it is essential that it be at the expense of part of the buildings of this Farm...".
