Il est chargé à lui transmettre aussi non une demande mais une réclamation bien fondée d'un de ses amis Mr Edgar QUINET... en faisant justice à Mr QUINET (il) aura le plaisir d'être utile à un jeune écrivain dont le talent promet tant à notre littérature. Mr QUINET est de ces hommes qui ne se laissent pas oublier. Mr de LAMARTINE profite avec empressement de cette circonstance pour renouveler à Monsieur THIERS l'assurance de ses sentiments distingués.» Adolphe THIERS est Ministre du Commerce en déc. 1832 à 1834, il deviendra Président de la République en août 1871 (1797 - 1877); Edgar QUINET, est Historien, Philosophe et Homme politique (1803-1875).

Paris on February 18 (1833 or 1834) "Mr LAMARTINE warmly thanks the Minister of Trade (THIERS) for the help so well granted and so well placed on Mrs AGOULT. He is charged to transmit to her not a request but a well-founded complaint of one of his friends Mr Edgar QUINET... by doing justice to Mr QUINET (he) will have the pleasure to be useful to a young writer whose talent promises so much to our literature. Mr QUINET is one of those men who do not let himself be forgotten. Mr. de LAMARTINE eagerly takes advantage of this occasion to renew to Mr. THIERS the assurance of his distinguished sentiments." Adolphe THIERS was Minister of Commerce from December 1832 to 1834, he became President of the Republic in August 1871 (1797 - 1877); Edgar QUINET was a historian, philosopher and politician (1803-1875).
