Ezra POUND (1885-1972). L.S. « E.P. » avec 2 corrections, Rapallo 8 décembre [1929], au journaliste Bernhard Ragner ; 1 page in-4 dactylographiée à son en-tête ; en anglais (quelques petites fentes marginales ; annotations du destinataire).
Au sujet de Willy (l’ancien mari de Colette). La lettre est marquée « not to print ». Pound demande l’adresse du Journal du Quinzième, « or whoever it is that is getting up the subscription for poor old “Willy” Gauthier-Villars »… Le journal de Ragner de dimanche dernier avait un article à ce sujet, et Pound a écrit à Paris pour obtenir l’information, en vain. « The Trib. article rather hard on the old man. He as much better than your writer reported. Made no pretense of being licherchoor, and has some damn good pages, obviously his, as the nigger work varies from one book to another, but the permanent element must be “Willy”. Damn sight better chap (and author) than the grreat Paul Moron (or Morand) ». – En ce qui concerne l’éditorial de vendredi, il demande si Ragner a jamais vu le Social Register ; si non, qu’il le regarde. Pound en a vu un exemplaire une seule fois, chez Foyot, il y a deux ans. « If you don’t know who is the first and who is the last, I give you three guesses.
