Il ira chercher son exemplaire [chez le libraire Bailly] à son prochain voyage à Paris. «Merci mon cher ami d'avoir pensé à moi mais comme je regrette que vous ne puissiez venir. Je veux cependant espérer qu'à l'automne cela vous sera possible. D'ici là j'aurai pu aller m'excuser auprès des Manet, n'ayant pu jusqu'à présent les aller voir, je leur pro­mets depuis si longtemps. Mais j'ai beaucoup à faire des quantités de toiles vendues qu'il me faut finir. Et puis je dois l'avouer j'ai beaucoup de peine à quitter Giverny surtout maintenant que j'arrange la maison et le jardin à mon goût»...

"Thank you my dear friend for thinking of me but how I regret that you cannot come. I hope, however, that in the autumn it will be possible for you. By then I will have been able to go and apologize to the Manets, as I have not been able to visit them until now, I have been promising them for so long. But I have a lot to do with the quantities of paintings sold that I have to finish. And I must confess that I find it very difficult to leave Giverny, especially now that I have arranged the house and the garden to my liking"...
