Splendido acquarello che unisce sacro e profano. L’impostazione suggerisce uno studio per pala d’altare, con il predicatore nella parte superiore sovrastata da angeli in mezzo alle nuvole: primo piano è delineata una giovane donna discinta che indica il santo. Domenico Mondo, esponente del barocco napoletano, lavorò principalmente tra Napoli e Caserta: nel 1789, anno in cui fui nominato direttore dell’Accademia Napoletana del Disegno, su offerta di Ferdinando IV.

Beautiful watercolor that combines the sacred and the profane. The setting suggests a study for an altarpiece, with the preacher in the upper part dominated by angels in the midst of the clouds: the foreground is a naked young woman pointing to the saint. Domenico Mondo, an exponent of the Neapolitan Baroque, worked mainly between Naples and Caserta: in 1789, the year in which I was appointed director of the Neapolitan Academy of Drawing, on the offer of Ferdinand IV.
